Following in the footsteps of the Painters of Light
A special luminosity has long attracted artists to Provence. Experience the same landscapes which inspired the likes of Cezanne, Van Gogh, Renoir, Braque and Derain on this 7 day/6 night self-drive tour.

Destination One: Aix en Provence (2 nights) Fountains seem to appear on every street corner and square in Aix which was founded because of its proximity to thermal springs. Explore the Old Town with its elegant manor houses and cobblestone streets. Visit the studio built by Paul Czanne from where he painted many of his famous works. Not to be missed is the Tapestry Museum that houses a magnificent collection of Beauvais tapestries. Enjoy your first two nights at the Hotel Le Pigonnet, where youll enjoy the flower-filled garden, inviting pool and attractive rooms.

Destination Two: Les Baux-de-Provence (1 night) The magnificent Les Baux-de-Provence spreads across a lofty plateau of sun bleached white stone - a medieval village with many fine Renaissance houses leading up to the ville morte, the strange, desolate ruins of the 13th-century chteau and the houses that surrounded it, destroyed on the orders of Louis XIII to punish its rebellious citizens. Your stay in Les Baux-de-Provence will take you to the hotel Le Mas de L'Oulivi, a warm and welcoming property. Once an olive-garden, the surrounding garden has its own almond green charm, a hidden tennis court, and an amazing pool.

Destination Three: Nmes (1 night) Justifiably famous for its Roman amphitheater and temple, Nmes is a city rich with culture and history, and the Hotel Imperator Concorde is located in the heart of it all. From this traditional and tranquil property, you are no more than 150 yards from the magnificent Jardins de la Fontaine, the Roman Temple, the amphitheatre which is now used for bullfights and festivities, and the Contemporary Art Center.

Destination Four: Le Sambuc (2 nights) Enter into the mysterious Camargue region, a land of gypsy horses, proud bulls and pink flamingos. Spend two nights at the enchanting Le Mas de Peint. Built in 1602, Le Mas de Peint is still a working ranch in the heart of the Camargue. Visually stunning, the hotel was opened only in 1994 and combines simple dcor with refined hospitality. Relax by the outdoor swimming pool, venture out on a mountain bike, or ride one of the beautiful white horses for which the Camargue is famous.
